What are the best and worst things about your job?

Best: As a litigating counsel, I enjoy arguing my client’s cases.

Worst: The administrative aspects of managing a Law Firm.

Who was the first lawyer you ever worked under? What is the most important lesson that you learnt from him/her?

Mr. N. K. Anand of Anand & Anand. The most important lesson I learned from him is to master the Bare Act, facts and case law while preparing for cases and to keep the basics right.

If a seventeen year old came to you and asked you whether he/she should consider a career in law, what advice would you give?

I would advice the person that this is the best profession and would encourage him/her to take law as a career.

What was your first car? When did you buy it?

My first car was a second-hand Fiat, which I brought in 1985.

Which is your favourite restaurant?

Bukhara at Maurya Sheraton, New Delhi .

What is the best book you read in the past year?

The best book I read in the past year is “Power of Subconscious Mind” by Dr. Brian Weiss.

Where did you go on your last vacation?

Last year I went to Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh , India which is also the Holy Abode of the Hon’ble Dalai Lama.

Which historical figure would you invite for dinner? If you could only ask one question of him/her, what would you ask?

Aryabhatta - What was the secret of his intellectual knowledge and brilliance in discovering zero thereby bestowing a great honour on India and Indians.

What is the most significant change that you would make to the law school curriculum?

The law school curriculum needs to incorporate better approach towards litigation and judicial service so that we can have better and good quality lawyers and judges in future.

What is the most significant change that you would like to see in the legal industry in the next five years?

I would like to see faster disposal of the pending cases in courts all over India as “justice delayed is justice denied”.
